Excellent meditations for Catholics especially as daily guide to Gospel church readings , but applies to any one hungry for the Word of GOD
He liberally inserts quotes from saints, fathers and popes to emphasize his points. What I most appreciate about these meditations is their "real world" nature.
No matter what your vocation in life, these meditations can help you draw closer to Christ. Fernandez speaks of mystical realities, but he applies them to the life of the Christian trying to live a holy life while having a family, a job, etc.
Volume 1 of "In Conversation with God" is a beautiful way to draw closer to Christ during the Advent and Christmas seasons. I read it during my lunch hour, and found it a great oasis during the workday.
I highly recommend this volume to anyone who wants to have a fruitful Advent and Christmas season. For each day in these liturgical seasons, starting with the 1st Sunday of Advent and ending with the Baptism of the Lord, Fernandez takes the day's readings and offers practical devotional insights.
Each meditation is a perfect length - long enough to include some real depth, but short enough to read in 5-10 minutes.
A good Catholic answer to the latest Protestant craze over "The Purpose Driven Life". It also inspires us to serve God faithfully. For those seriously seeking to grow in holiness and bring some order to their daily prayer life, I strongly recommend this series. Drawing upon Sacred Scripture, the writings of the saints, and his own life experiences, the author brings together three daily meditations (about five to ten minutes each) that center around the Scripture readings of the Mass that day.Imparted in these meditations are knowledge of the faith, advice on how to pray more fervently, and a clear understanding of virtue and its importance.
I highly recommend this book for families. For my family and me, reading this book has become a tradtion during Advent. A true guide to the Advent season. Read it together, talk about it, refresh yourself. How many times have you roamed the shopping malls, your local Wal-Mart during Christmas only to come home and feel detached from the Birth of Christ-the true meaning of Advent. This insightful book places the reader on track as to why Christ was born, the importance of waiting for His Birth.
